Computer is ready!

My computer is finally ready for pick up on Monday. Once I have it back home I will have to assemble it and install windows 7. Baring any unforeseen problems, everything should be up and running Monday night. Then I can start setting up my recording software for video/audio and a few other tweaks. I still have to test Fraps and Camtasia to see which runs better with SWTOR.

Over the next week I will work on advertising and graphics for YouTube. I might even throw together an intro. But I am still undecided on that part.

4 to 8 business days

This is Friday the 6th. Most importantly is it day business day 8 for new PC order. NCIx has been very good to do business with but if I end waiting for another three days, I will be canceling my order.

When my monitor was ordered there was a 2-4 business day wait on it. A week later there is a 4-8 business wait on it. Then on Tuesday, three days ago, they updated it to 1-2 business days. So, I am a little confused about their stock updates in real time.

Anyway, I'm not an impatient man and do I understand boxing day sales. But business day 8 is here. Its getting to be a bit much for a pick-up order. If I don't hear from them by four o'clock today, I am going to have to cancel my entire order and just buy locally.

In the end, product is product. I just prefer to do business with people I know will deliver.

Wow! No, not the MMO!

I seriously can not believe how many people hate this game. All over different forums, different YouTube videos, different everything, there always seems to be an outrageous amount of people who HATE StarWars: ToR. I just don't understand how you can judge a game this early.

MMO fans, especially SWTOR fans, have had this idea of judging a book by it's cover. This cover being the StarWars universe and the name Bioware. Then they precede to read one chapter and realize there are no pictures in this book! While completely forgetting that this is a business model to an MMO.

Take WoW for example. If it had stayed in development for eight years and was released last week then every one would be entitled to compare these two MMOs but it wasn't. I was there in beta WoW, I was there when the servers went live, I was there when they hit one million subscribers, and six mil, and 12 mil. Do you have any idea why this game grew like this? Content! Regular releases and huge gameplay changes kept things interesting. But this takes time. Heck, it's still happening after all these years.

Time is exactly what SWTOR fans need to give this game. I guarantee in a few years time TOR will be a game to be reckoned with. And if it's not? At least I gave it a chance to grow. I saw no potential in WoW or other MMOs and they have surprised me. I believe the same will happen here.

To sum up everything, I am basically trying to tell the "new guy" that this game does have it's flaws, just like any other MMO, in it's first month of release. I have used the engine that StarWars:ToR was built on and the possibilities are endless.

Don't fret, give the game a try. At the very least come back in a few months and see all the changes.

Boobs!

I have discovered something so profound, so astounding, that it will capture the imagination of the male sex for years to come!  Boobs!  Seriously, if you haven't noticed the over-sized 36,24,36 bust lines; then you haven't been playing The Old Republic.  Now, I will be the first to admit it, I took a second look and maybe I tried to turn my graphics to maximum.  I mean really who wouldn't?!  Here, lets take a look.

Not bad eh?   But, does it belong?  No.  In fact this is probably the only game, or universe, that I find this to be a little insulting.  I get what the character animators are doing, but really, come on.  Less is not more in this case.  Mix it up a little.  These "assets" are sending a poor message to the younger generations who are easily persuaded.

From an artistic standpoint StarWars: ToR is not a "dark" and/or intimate game.  We play in a very well lit, open, cartoon style, chose your own adventure.  The implied sex appeal just doesn't fit in.

For anyone reading this remember that this is my opinion and how I feel about the game.  Don't waste your time telling me I am wrong or that I don't know what I am talking about.  You shouldn't be taking everyone's opinion so seriously.  If you have "constructive" criticism or feedback then feel free to comment.

It's installed

I couldn't wait any longer. And with my free month ticking away, I just had to install the game on my laptop. I am on absolute minimum settings right now, which sucks, but oh my god is it ever worth it! I am only level 6 but man is the game good! I really feel like I am leading the story here. Sure, there are other people around me, but when it comes to the story line quests, I feel I am in control of the outcome of The old Republic.

I don't know how Bioware did it but instances are actually instant. I can walk right up to a cave and, as I enter, I enter alone which is pretty cool. I also got my droid today. T7 was his name I think. This little guy is funny lol. Gah, there are probably twenty different things I want to mention and discuss but that would take all day.

I seriously can't wait for my new PC to get here. I want to experience StarWars: The Old Republic on high visual settings.

Oh and one last thing. The voice acting is amazing and it really pulls you into the story. I was actually upset for this NPC after one quest I did. Then I was proud on another. Just amazing! Anyways more soon!

Tick tick tick!

You are not going to believe this. I bought the game, SWTOR on boxing day, and I registered it on my account that same day. Well, three days later I am looking through my account for the fan site kit and I see that I only have 27 days left of my free month. What the hell? Since when did gaming companies start doing that?! I am waiting for my new PC to arrive before I decide to play but with boxing day and new years around the corner, shipping is at a stand still.

Any way, there is nothing I can do about it except expect to only get two or three weeks of free play time. Hopefully it's long enough to allow me explore and experience some of the deeper aspects of the game.

First Post

Hey hey how's it going today?  I am having an awesome time waiting for my dang monitor to ship!  I ordered a 21" widescreen on Christmas day.  NCIX was having some sweet Web-Only Boxing Day sales and I honestly thought I would be that lucky guy that gets his monitor the next day, haha.  Ah well, this just gives me more prep time for the Blog, Youtube, Website, Underwear, and stock piling my Soda collection.  I am a Pepsi fan, sorry Coke lovers.  Oh, here I will show you guys the main pieces I ordered for my new rig.  Keep in mind that this is a budget PC and when I say budget, I mean I emptied my piggy bank for this sucker.

Again, nothing fancy but well exceeds the minimums for StarWars: The Old Republic.  One really good feature about this mother board is the video card.  It's an RADEON HD4250 1gig (on board) and performs pretty well.  The main selling point for me on this was the fact I can crossfire it with another video card.  I plan to buy a new one in the coming months.  Maybe an early birthday gift, mmmm!

Oh my god!  Never try to hold off going to the bathroom, it's just not healthy.
